Owner of pit bull stabbed to death in Central Park cursed out killer

The owner of a pit bull stabbed to death in Central Park during a fight between dog walkers followed the poochโ€™s killer, recording him on his cellphone and cursing him out.

โ€œYou better not show your face,โ€ the owner yelled as the stabber headed north on Fifth Ave with his own three dogs, cellphone video obtained by ABC7 New York Eyewitness News shows. โ€œYou killed my dog, you piece of s—!โ€

โ€œBig tough guy,โ€ the distraught owner added. โ€œYou killed my dog, man.โ€

The suspect, clad in shorts and a dark short-sleeve shirt, is still being sought.

The fatal confrontation sparked off near E. 106th St. and East Drive about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Eli is pictured here after the attack.

The 51-year-old owner and his 43-year-old wife were walking Eli, a pit bull German Shepherd mx, and their other dog, Sadie, a miniature pinscher, when the stabberโ€™s three pit bulls snapped at Sadie.

That prompted an argument during which the attacker plunged a switchblade into Eli, killing the dog.

โ€œIโ€™m still shaken,โ€ a witness who recorded cellphone video of the clashโ€™s aftermath told ABC7 Eyewitness News. โ€œThere was a dog on the ground that was dead, a lot of blood around it. A guy was trying to do something โ€” and three other pit bulls without leashes…three pit bulls around him.โ€

The witness said the owner was crying but was able to follow the attacker out of the pack, recording him from behind.
