Queens man dies at local hospital after firefighters pull him from late-night blaze

A 74-year-old Queens man pulled from a burning residence early Friday was pronounced dead at a local hospital, authorities said.

The unidentified man arrived at NY Presbyterian Queens Hospital in cardiac arrest after suffering smoke inhalation in the blaze just before 3 a.m., according to police. The fire started on the upper floor of the two-story residence and was extinguished after about an hour, with fire marshals investigating the cause, officials said.

The victim was not immediately identified after some 60 firefighters responded to the scene, with no other injuries reported.
