A scooter rider smashed into a yellow cab driver in the Upper West Side as a horde of four-wheelers and dirt bikes roared by on Sunday, cops said.
The pack of some 50 off-road vehicles, dirt bikes and motorcycles were pulling wheelies and screaming northbound up Broadway near W. 85th St. at 5:45 p.m. when then the scooter rider and the yellow cab driver smashed into each other, according to cops and witnesses.
The horde of riders came to a halt on Broadway as the scooter operator screamed in pain on the roadway, according to witnesses.
Paramedics had to lift him into the gurney by a sheet before carting him off in an ambulance, they said.
The scooter rider was taken to an area hospital with a leg injury in stable condition, cops said.
The taxi driver โ who stayed at the scene and was not injured in the colission โ told the Daily News that the scooter driver smashed into him.
Dirt bikes and ATVs have no vehicle identification number and are illegal to ride on NYC streets.
Authorities confiscate the off-road vehicles by the thousands every year, claiming they are unsafe to operate.
