After weeks of the bitter cold and even a couple of snow days, there’s good news for New Yorkers looking forward to spring: a period of warmer weather is on the way.
In New York City, the skies will be partly sunny at the beginning of the week – with temperatures expected to rise as high as 60 degrees on Wednesday, according to the National Weather Service. And while there’s still a chance of scattered showers this week, the weather is expected to remain mild by the end of the week – and there’s absolutely no chance of snow, according to forecasters.
But Brett Ratbun, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said he wants residents to remain cautious – there’s still a chance that things will get cold again heading into April.
“It’s certainly a possibility that winter isn’t completely done yet,” he said.
The cold air is expected to remain in the western part of the country, while warm air is expected to remain in the east for this week. However, this weather pattern could reverse by mid-March – and it wouldn’t be the first time the sun decided to hide again in March and April.
“Winter may not necessarily be over yet but there’s going to be a couple days where it should be pretty nice,” Ratbun said.
