A woman was fatally struck by a pickup truck driver Tuesday night as she crossed a Brooklyn intersection, according to police.

The NYPD says that around 8:10 p.m. officers responded to a 911 call about a pedestrian hit at the intersection of Bay Ridge and 13th avenues in Dyker Heights.

They found 52-year-old Bensonhurst resident Xiaohong Chen unresponsive on the roadway, with trauma to her head and body, per police. Officials say she had been hit by a Dodge Ram pickup whose driver remained at the scene.

First responders took Chen in critical condition to Brooklynโ€™s Maimonides Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police continue to investigate the crash and no arrests have been made.

Chen is the fourth pedestrian to be killed in a crash in New York City so far in 2024, according to data compiled by NYC Crash Mapper, which tracks traffic injuries and fatalities.

The data shows 102 pedestrians, including 26 in Brooklyn, were killed citywide last year, when there were more than 250 total traffic deaths.

The new year marks a decade since the city launched Vision Zero, an initiative to end all serious traffic injuries and deaths by reducing speed limits, installing speed cameras and improving road design.
