The New York Mets dropped a first teaser for their Nike City Connect uniforms, which will be revealed on April 19 and there is not the most traditional color involved.

With a backdrop of the 59th Street Bridge, the short video shows the teamโ€™s traditional orange, interlocking โ€œNYโ€ logo changing to purple.

The shade of purple appears to be a nod to the 7 train โ€” the subway line that stops at Citi Field in Queens โ€” which is designated the color purple on New York City subway maps.

With the Mets set to wear the uniforms roughly one week after they are unveiled, this could very well be just the second time in franchise history that the team will not wear any of its traditional blue or orange colors in a regular-season game. In 1999, they were temporarily rebranded the Mercury Mets as a part of Major League Baseballโ€™s โ€œTurn Ahead The Clock Night,โ€ where they wore black and silver.
