The 2023-24 NBA season is underway — and there’s a handful of things to keep in mind. For the first time ever, the Denver Nuggets enter a season as reigning champions, but their defense will be under siege.
The Milwaukee Bucks have something special brewing on the horizon after acquiring Damian Lillard from the Portland Trail Blazers to join forces with Giannis Antetokounmpo, who rang in the new NBA season by signing a three-year, $186 million contract extension on Tuesday.Â
But the Boston Celtics have quite a squad as well, adding Jrue Holiday and Kristaps Porzingis to a roster that already boasts Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown — and should challenge the Bucks for East bragging rights.Â
Out in the Western Conference, the last time we saw the Phoenix Suns, they were expected to make a serious run at a title after bringing on Kevin Durant to team up with Devin Booker. But they fell in six games in the West semis to the Nuggets. But they didn’t rest on their laurels. They added Bradley Beal, who is dealing with a back issue, to create a fearsome trio of their own.Â
Of course, they’ll have to contend with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers along with Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, both of whom will also challenge for the Western Conference crown.
Here’s how the sportsbooks are forecasting the brand-new season:
