After meeting with Major League Baseball three hours before their scheduled first pitch, the New York Yankees announced that Wednesday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox at Yankee Stadium has been postponed due to poor air quality from the Canadian wildfires.
The game will be made up on Thursday as the first game of a single-admission doubleheader, which will begin at 4:05 p.m. ET.
Due to the wildfires raging in central Canada, smoke darkened the sky above New York City, giving it an ominous orange hue:

According to the air quality index administered by AirNow.gov, the Bronx’s air quality was at a 413 as of 4:45 p.m. ET, which is considered hazardous that calls for everyone to “stay indoors and reduce activity levels. By comparison, moderate air quality is measured at 100.
