Nathan Bruschi, who is serving his first term, will step down May 2
COLONIE — First term Albany County Legislator Nathan Bruschi is stepping down.
Bruschi, a Democrat who represents parts of South Colonie and Loudonville, will leave May 2 to spend more time with his family, according to Legislature Chairman Andrew Joyce’s office. Joyce thanked Bruschi for his service.
“The tenacity Nathan exhibited during his campaign and the leadership shown during his term as a legislator will be missed, but I am confident they will serve him well in future endeavors,” Joyce said.
Bruschi said he was sad to have to step down early from his seat but between a new baby and the work demands on him and his spouse, it was the right decision. Bruschi owns a company that purchases businesses from retiring owners. He said he intends to stay in upstate New York.
“It was an honor to earn the trust of my community and I am so proud of the work I’ve been able to accomplish improving local infrastructure and preserving our county’s historic treasures as chair of the Public Works committee and secretary of the Capital Resource Corporation,” he said.
Bruschi was first elected to the legislature in 2019. The legislature will appoint a candidate to serve the remaining months of his term.
The Colonie Democratic committee is expected to recommend Ellen Rosano, the candidate running this November to represent the district.
