SARATOGA SPRINGS — The Leadership Saratoga program, which aims to develop local leaders with the skills, knowledge and networks to serve Saratoga County, is now accepting applications for its 2023-24 class.
Sponsored by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Saratoga selects up to 24 people each year with demonstrated motivation and community achievement to participate in interactive sessions that address issues facing the community.
The Advisory Board is currently accepting applications and is looking to fill its next cohort with people from a diverse range of backgrounds and experiences. The application window for the 2023-24 class remains open through June 23.
In addition to 13 sessions (one full-day, 12 half-day), participants also complete a group project submitted by a local nonprofit that creates a positive impact in the county. Past projects include providing hybrid learning and social experiences to seniors through the Academy for Lifelong Learning and assisting with a community-wide effort to improve transportation for low-income individuals.
Organizations with a project idea are encouraged to submit their idea to the program by Aug. 12.
Tuition for the yearlong program costs $2,500. The Leadership Saratoga Alumni Association, through the Linda G. Toohey Scholarship Program, provides scholarship assistance to those who demonstrate need.
After graduation, participants can become involved in the active alumni association. Graduates of the program, which began in 1985, currently serve on the board of directors of 135 nonprofits from Corinth to Clifton Park.
