NORTH GREENBUSH — Public media organization WMHT has hired Michele Desrosiers as vice president of marketing and communications to lead efforts to grow the multi-channel TV, radio and digital media organization’s profile and increase community engagement and partnerships.
The pick comes six months after the hiring of new CEO Anthony Hayes, who previously led New England Public Media in Springfield, Mass.
Desrosiers, who has 15 years of experience in marketing in the nonprofit, corporate finance and technology sectors, will also help lead a major initiative planned by Hayes to orchestrate a “listening tour” to hear directly from WMHT’s target audience and supporters across its footprint in eastern New York and western Massachusetts.
Desrosiers has gotten right to work, attending the Public Media Development and Marketing Conference in Atlanta this week on behalf of WMHT, so she was unavailable Monday for an interview when the announcement was made.
“We are delighted to welcome Michele Desrosiers to the talented senior management team at WMHT,” Hayes said in a statement. “With proven marketing expertise, a passion for public media, and a track record of success, Michele will play a critical role in building regional awareness of WMHT, growing engagement with our audiences, and enhancing our ability to educate, enlighten, entertain and enrich the communities we serve.”
WMHT operates multiple public broadcasting TV channels and radio stations, and also has a digital media presence as well. Its studios are some of the largest and most versatile in the region.
“I am thrilled to join WMHT Public Media, and excited for the opportunity to help build awareness, engagement, and impact throughout the communities we serve,” Desrosiers said in a statement.
