COLONIE – An Albany County jail inmate incarcerated on an attempted murder charge tried to persuade a witness to “absent herself” from an upcoming proceeding in his case where she will be testifying, according to Sheriff Craig Apple Sr.’s office.
Jeffrey L. Everett, 35, of Rensselaer called the witness between May 22 and 26 using another inmate’s PIN and the conversation took place, the sheriff’s office said. He was arrested Wednesday and faces two misdemeanor charges of tampering with a witness and will be arraigned at a later date, the sheriff’s office said. Â
