Retired All-Pro offensive lineman Maurkice Pouncey said Sunday there’s a “Big Chance” he and his twin brother, Mike, will play for the National Arena League’s Albany Empire this season.
Pouncey, who played center for the Pittsburgh Steelers and was a teammate of Empire owner Antonio Brown, replied “Big Chance” in response to an Instagram message. It was followed by emojis of a football and a hand with a pen signing.
Mike Pouncey was also a center who was a Pro Bowl player for the Miami Dolphins. They retired together in Feburary 2021.
Maurkice Pouncey didn’t elaborate when they would play or for how many games. Albany’s next game is Friday at Orlando. The Empire’s next home game is June 17 against the Jacksonville Sharks at MVP Arena.
Maurkice Pouncey fueled speculation by tweeting at Brown on Friday, “@AB84 Mike & I will play for free ! You are FAMILY!!”
Maurkice Pouncey added their cousin, wide receiver Jordan, had interest as well. All three played for the University of Florida.
“Waiting on that call,” Maurkice Pouncey tweeted.
Antonio Brown didn’t immediately return a text seeking comment.
Brown has also made a $150,000 offer on social media to former NFL MVP quarterback Cam Newton to play one game for the Empire, but Newton hasn’t responded publicly
