Flay, 58, told House Beautiful that he asked Capuano to create “a warm home” inspired by the Deco era. “I think she did an amazing job,” he noted. “I love spending time in this home.”
The restaurateur can watch the thoroughbred horses from his window while cooking in the main kitchen. Then, there’s the patio where guests can opt for a backyard view or tune into the outdoor TV, as well as the second-floor balcony that overlooks the Oklahoma Training Track.
Renovations to the house signal its new purpose as a seasonal outpost for the Food Network star to host and cook for family and friends. What was once a home office is now a wet bar, dubbed the “Bourbon Lounge,” and a fire pit has also been transformed into a sprawling outdoor kitchen. A large chunk of the budget was spent updating the back patio, which includes a grill and counter with stools, to provide Flay with a valuable outdoor entertaining space.
At the heart of the home, the kitchen is simple yet refined, complete with custom marble bistro tables and blue dining chairs from the 1960s. Much of the vintage furniture and decorative pieces were reportedly sourced from antique stores in the Hudson Valley.
“The design was aimed at bringing the vibrancy and energy of the track indoors while creating an inviting and comfortable space for hosting guests,” Capuano told the magazine.
