They each received a $500 scholarship and a gift card from Arlene’s Artist Materials.
“Scholarships are presented annually to recognize academic excellence in the arts, intention of continuing education at college level, participation in sponsored community arts events and participation and leadership roles in school art clubs,” said Marion Greenburg, director of the scholarship program.
The recipients are scheduled to continue their art studies in college: Lee — Boston University; Scott — Hudson Valley Community College; Leslie — Ithaca College; Bates — Rhode Island School of Design, and He — Rochester Institute of Technology.
The Colonie Art League is a not-for-profit founded in 1974 by a group of area artists to further the advancement of visual arts.
“Among its guiding principles are the increase of public awareness of original art produced in the Capital District, the presentation of educational programs for artists, and continued fundraising for donations to provide high school graduates with art scholarships, prizes, and awards, among other important causes,” the group said in a statement.
