DiMarco, McCallister bring Charity Skins Game back to Mohawk

They range in age from 53 to 64, and all have between three and six PGA Tour victories.

In Chris DiMarco, Rocco Mediate, Billy Andrade, Tim Herron and Blaine McCallister, the second rendition of the Charity Skins Game — scheduled for Tuesday, June 20, at Mohawk — has gathered a group representing an era when personality and fan interaction was encouraged.

“These guys know what they’re here for,” event organizer Joel Slutsky said. “They’re great.”

The benefit for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady raised $250,000 last year, when DiMarco, McCallister, David Duval, Darren Clarke and Fred Funk were the participants. Slutsky is optimistic that the event will generate a similar total for what should be a fun day for spectators.

McCallister, a longtime staple at Capital Region charity events, will be this year’s emcee, leaving the competition to the other four, all of whom are regulars on the PGA Champions tour.

According to rankings developed by AinsworthSports.com, which uses statistics and results to rate players, the four competitors are among the top thousand golfers of all time:
•    DiMarco, 54, has three PGA Tour victories, but his biggest golf feat was a runner-up finish in the 2005 Masters, losing to Tiger Woods in a playoff. He is ranked 280th by Ainsworth.
•    Mediate, 60, owns six PGA Tour titles and has added three more on the Champions Tour. He lost the 2008 U.S. Open in a playoff against Woods. His ranking is 358.
•    Andrade, 59, has four PGA Tour and three Champions tour victories. He won the 2022 Payne Stewart Award, exemplifying Stewart’s values of character, charitable efforts, and sportsmanship. Ainsworth has him ranked 856th.
•    Herron, 53, is a four-time PGA Tour winner with 29 top-five finishes and nearly $20 million in career earnings. The Ainsworth research puts him at No. 870.
