RENSSELAER – Doane Stuart School, which has been rocked with financial and enrollment crises, is joining another private school in what the schools are calling a “partnership.”
This fall, Doane Stuart will host in its building the fifth through eighth graders from the Susan Odell Taylor School in Troy. All of Doane Stuart’s pre-K through fourth graders will relocate to the Susan Odell Taylor School.
The two schools will spend the next two years planning their next steps, but they intend to eventually be under one roof.
“We are really excited to be embarking on a partnership between Doane Stuart and the Susan Odell Taylor School,” said Doane Stuart spokeswoman Crissa Kounavis. “It’s no secret there was some challenge. We are definitely not closing. We have a bright, solid partnership ahead of us.”
The combination will offer the region “something that’s really unique,” she said.
