COLONIE — The Colonie Chabad Jewish Center presents a number of programs this summer
A lecture by Rabbi Yossi Paltiel, “The Secrets of Life,” takes place at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Colonie Town Library, 629 Albany Shaker Road. RSVP is required; sign up at http://libr.info/d3 or call the library information desk at 518-810-0314.
The rabbi is a renowned teacher of Jewish thought, philosophy, mysticism and Chassidism. He teaches at the Rabbinical College of Tomchei Temimim Lubavitch & Machon L’Yahadus Women’s Institute in Brooklyn. His website has audio classes at www.insidechassidus.org and www.theyeshiva.net.
A summer course, The Jewish Course of Why (Session 3), covering the 50 biggest questions about Jews and Judaism, is from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays starting July 17 both in-person and on Zoom. Includes time for discussion. For information, go to ColonieCJC.com/why.

St. Joseph’s picnic returns
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — After a hiatus of three years due to the pandemic, the Polish Picnic is returning to the grounds of St. Joseph’s Church at 414 North St. from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 16.
A highlight of the 60-plus year tradition is the homemade Polish food for sale made by the parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church, including pierogies, kapusta, golumbki, and kielbasa. The Eddie Forman Orchestra will entertain at 1 pm. Bring a lawn chair to relax and enjoy the music or get up and dance to the polka. There will be raffles, games of chance, and a KiddyLand. There will also be American food and adult beverages for sale.
There is a $1 entry fee to the picnic which includes chances to win door prizes.
