COLONIE — A man charged after a domestic attack at a home on Fiddlers Lane in Latham has pleaded guilty to first-degree assault, Albany County prosecutors said this week.
Colonie resident Bledar Hoxha, 41, was arrested immediately after a Dec. 1, 2022, attack on his estranged girlfriend. Sometime before 6 p.m., Hoxha entered the victim’s residence on Fiddlers Lane, threatened her with a BB gun and then stabbed her multiple times with a kitchen knife, police said.
Neighbors heard a commotion and called police, who entered the home and found the victim, 39, with severe injuries to her neck, head and face, police said. They arrested Hoxha, who was charged with attempted murder, burglary, assault and aggravated criminal contempt, all felonies. He was also charged with three misdemeanors: criminal possession of a weapon, menacing and endangering the welfare of a child.
Two children, ages 6 and 12, witnessed the attack but were not physically hurt, police said. Albany County Family Court had issued a prior order of protection banning Hoxha from being in the presence of the victim or their children.
After Wednesday’s guilty plea, Hoxha faces 18 to 22 years in prison followed by five years of post-release supervision, according to District Attorney David Soares’ office. Sentencing is scheduled for June 16.
