Jackson-Davis, Thompson lead Hoosiers into second round against Miami

ALBANY – Trayce Jackson-Davis had 24 points, 11 rebounds and five assists and Race Thompson had 20 and nine rebounds as No. 4 Indiana handled No. 13 Kent State 71-60 in the last NCAA Tournament first-round contest on Friday before 13,989 fans at MVP Arena.
In a game that didn’t end until 12:43 a.m., the Hoosiers built a 35-27 halftime lead and kept a double-digit lead for most of the second half. Kent State led only once, at 9-8.
Indiana (23-11) moves on to a second-round game at 8:40 p.m. Sunday against No. 5 Miami, which beat Drake in an earlier first-round game. The Hoosiers are appearing in the second round for the second striaght year under head coach Mike Woodson.
Sincere Carry led Kent State with 15 points on 5-of-18 shooting after hurting his knee during the Friday morning shootaround when he banged into a teammate.
Kent State ends the season at 28-7 under head coach Rob Senderoff, a University at Albany graduate.
