Jury convict mother of multiple perjury counts in high-profile foster child killing case in Schenectady County

Friday morning, a Schenectady County jury found Latrisha Greene guilty of four of the five counts of first-degree perjury, all felonies, and two counts of misdemeanor endangering the welfare of child, according to her attorney Mark Juda.ย  ย

Greene, 27, faces up to seven years in prison on the perjury charges. The child endangerment charges carry maximum sentences of up to a year in jail.

The district attorney’s office did not immediately return a call seeking comment.ย

Greene was never charged in connection with her foster son’s death on Dec. 29, 2020.ย

Prosecutors have said on the day of the child died,ย Greene was out running errands when her husband, Dequan Greene, called to tell her what happened to the boy, who died that day.

He ignored her instructions, prosecutors said, to call 911. She called for help after rushing home to the coupleโ€™s Rotterdam home.ย

The allegations in her case are related to text messages she sent to Dequan Greene as well as her responses to questions about whether he ever โ€œcaused bruisingโ€ to the young boy who died and his 5-year-old brother as well as a female child in the home, according to the charging document.ย

For example, Greene was asked if she ever texted her husband and told him โ€œno more bruises we need the(m) to healโ€ or if in another correspondence she stated โ€œyou really pissed me off but then to see your hand print on her face it to took me to an entire different level of anger.โ€ย  ย

Greene answered no to each of the queries.ย

Greene testified at her trial. She denied lying about the texts.

Latrisha Greene told the Times Union during an interview in December that followed her husbandโ€™s sentencing that she was trying to regain custody of her five biological children who were staying with her aunt.ย
