ALBANY – A 33-year-old Albany man was found guilty by a jury Thursday on charges related to repeated order of protection violations and the intended use of a sledgehammer, Albany County District Attorney David Soares’ office said.
Ryan Critcher was convicted for criminal possession of a weapon, third-degree assault, criminal contempt and endangering the welfare of a child.
Authorities say Critcher violated an order of protection in July 2021, and possessed a sledgehammer with the intent to use it against a different victim. He also violated an order of protection between Dec. 8, 2021 and May 19, 2022, by repeatedly attempting to contact the victim.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 14, and Critcher faces 13 to 26 years in state prison, according to the prosecutors.
