12:19 p.m.: Though Metro-North train service remains suspended between Croton-Harmon and Poughkeepsie, the MTA announced that bus service would begin around 1 p.m. Monday. Buses will depart from Croton-Harmon on a load-and-go basis, making stops at Cortlandt, Beacon and Poughkeepsie, the MTA said in a statement.
Buses also replaced train service on the Upper Harlem Line at approximately 10:00 a.m., following a suspension north of Southeast on Monday morning due to obstructions on the tracks. Buses will depart from Southeast on a load-and-go basis, making all station stops to Wassaic.
Route 218 in Hudson Valley appeared to have collapsed
12:10 p.m.: The rain appeared to cause widespread damage to transportation infrastructure, though the full extent of the damage was not immediately clear. Social media posts circulated on various Facebook pages saying parts of Route 6 had collapsed and that Route 9W was shut down due to flooding, backing up traffic.
Route 218, which loops off Route 9W and connects Cornwall to West Point, appeared to have collapsed, according to videos posted to social media. North of Highland Falls, the road is briefly concurrent with Route 9W. Despite its short length, the road is heavily trafficked as it brings most of the traffic to the U.S. Military Academy through its main entrance at Thayer Gate, and attracts many drivers to the scenic cliffside drive alongside Storm King Mountain.
