The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office said a call about the incident came in just before 4 p.m. Friday
MALTA — The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash between a motorcycle and SUV on Friday afternoon.
A man died after his northbound motorcycle and the southbound SUV collided at the intersection of State Route 9 and Cherry Choke Road. Deputies responded to a 3:47 p.m. call about the incident, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The operator of the motorcycle was taken to Saratoga Hospital where he was pronounced dead, while the operator of the SUV was treated for minor injuries.
The name of the deceased man was not released pending notification of his family.
As a result of the crash, detours impacted northbound traffic on Route 9 and southbound traffic on I-87 to northbound Route 9 at exit 13. All impacted roadways have since been reopened to traffic.
The sheriff’s office was assisted by the state Park Police, State Police, state Department of Transportation, Malta/Stillwater EMS, Malta Ridge Fire Department and Round Lake Fire Department.
The investigation of the crash is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office Collision Reconstruction Unit and is ongoing.
