Outdoor events are preparing to kick off now that warmer weather approaches, and food trucks are ready to fill the streets again with various cuisines at local markets, outdoor activities, and around the Capitol. This is part of an occasional series on area food trucks and their operators. This week, we talked with Chris Reilly, one of the owners of the Heisenburgers Food Truck.Â

We (Reilly and Jeff Lentz, the other co-owner of Heisenburgers) were coworkers at, what we call, The Store in Castleton. It used to be a deli/convenience store. I was the manager and he was a chef and we met there and became friends. We both ended up migrating to hospitality where we both now work for Regeneron. We’ve always been in the food business, and during the pandemic, we started to change the way we looked at food and food service all together. Food trucks were getting popular in this area. We’ve been to Oregon and Texas and seen food truck parks in those areas and we really liked the concept and the versatility, so we started to talk and see what we could come up with. We ended up really quickly getting a company together, buying a truck, and getting out there. Within two months, from the start of that conversation, we were in business.
How would you describe Heisenburgers Food Truck food truck’s culture?Â
Scratch-made and quality products. It’s like a family to be honest. We never felt like such a part of the community until we joined the food truck community. From day one we were treated great, they would come over and ask if we needed help. We want each other to succeed. There’s enough work for everybody so we’re constantly referring other people. We also love the interaction with the customers.Â
