Memorial Day weekend is a time to honor those members of our military who we lost. It also marks the unofficial start to summer and the year’s first major shopping event. That means retailers looking to boost sales are queuing up a deluge of deals, especially on big ticket items.
“This long holiday weekend welcomes a range of sales on everything from furniture to mattresses to help consumers stretch their budget and offers some spending relief amid surging inflation,” says Andrea Woroch, budgeting guru and consumer savings expert.
What to buy
Major Appliances. Memorial Day has long welcomed significant savings on major home appliances, making this a good time to replace that faulty refrigerator or dishwasher. In fact, May has been dubbed Maytag Month during which shoppers can find up to 30 percent off Maytag appliance sat big box stores like Lowe’s, Home Depot and Best Buy, as well as local appliances retailers carrying the brand. Plus, they’re offering an added $200 rebate with the purchase of three select appliances.
New cars. Inventory and deals are finally making their way back to auto dealerships, with Memorial Day sales offering both money off the purchase of a new car and low interest financing. For example, Nissan is offering zero percent financing for 36 months on the 2023 Rogue.
