Blaze claims the lives of two cats on River Road
GLENMONT — Bethlehem police are investigating a fire Saturday on River Road in Glenmont that left one person hospitalized.
A call came in at about 7 a.m. for a fire at 201 River Road, according to a release from police. All occupants were out of the house when police arrived. Heavy smoke and fire was coming from a second-floor bedroom. The Selkirk Fire Department and several assisting departments arrived shortly after, and the fire was contained to the one room, the release said.
One resident was taken to a local hospital for smoke inhalation, the release said. Two cats also died in the fire.
Police said they are working to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
