A second passenger was also hospitalized
GALLATIN — A passenger on a utility terrain vehicle died of injuries sustained after she was pinned underneath the vehicle last week.
Troopers were dispatched to Crock Road in Gallatin at 2:23 p.m. on July 1 after getting a report of a UTV crash with injuries. With the help of bystanders, they lifted the UTV off Marleen M. VonHagen, 61, of Pleasantville and Christopher W. Carter, 36, of Bronxville.
Both were taken to Columbia Memorial Health hospital in Hudson, according to State Police, where VonHagen was pronounced dead. Carter, the driver, was uninjured.
Utility terrain vehicles are similar to all-terrain vehicles but are constructed and used more for work than recreation and can seat multiple passengers and carry loads.
State Police continue to investigate the death.
