Senior Brody Rogers struck out 14 Hudson batters and went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Maple Hill to a 6-1 victory on Monday in a Patroon Conference matchup.
Rogers pitched a complete game, giving up only two hits and one earned run for the victory, while he drove in a run, scored and stole a base to help his own cause.
Teammate Kaden Van Kempen finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and an RBI.
Brian Curran struck out six batters for the Bluehawks in a losing effort. Anthony Florio drove in Hudson’s only run while going 1-for-2 at the plate.
More baseball: Trevor French went 6 2/3 innings, striking out 10 while giving up one earned run to lead Schuylerville over Gloversville 5-1 in a Foothills Council matchup. Mark Earley finished 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs to lead the Horses. Andre Deumaga scored the only run for Gloversville.
Softball: Kari Graziano went the distance, striking out 16 to lead Ichabod Crane to a 14-1 win over Holy Trinity. Graziano limited Holy Trinity to one run and four hits over seven innings of work. Ava Heffner finished 3-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, while teammate Emma Scheitinger finished 4-for-5 with three RBIs and four runs scored to lead the Riders.
