BETHLEHEM – A Selkirk man died after the car he occupied was struck by another car head-on, town police said.
Police said the crash occurred about 5 p.m. Tuesday near River and Lyons roads.
A 63-year-old Cohoes woman was northbound on River Road when she crossed over the center lines of the road and collided head-on with a car going south. That car was occupied by a 59-year-old Selkirk woman and front-seat passenger Dennis M. Charland, 66, also of Selkirk.
All occupants of the cars were taken to Albany Medical Center Hospital by Delmar-Bethlehem EMS with their injuries.
At the hospital, Charland died from his injuries and the driver of the car he was in was admitted for further treatment.
The Cohoes woman was treated, then released. After the Albany County Crash Investigation Team reconstructed the crash, it confirmed that she had crossed over the center lines, causing the crash, and she was charged with failing to keep right and unlicensed driving.
Also assisting were Selkirk firefighters, Albany County paramedics, and the state Department of Transportation.
