LAKE GEORGE — A 58-year-old Lake George man was arrested Thursday for allegedly simulating a sex act on an unsuspecting female shopper at a Walgreens, and stands charged with forcible touching and sexual abuse in the third degree.

Around noon on Thursday, deputies at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office received a report of the man’s alleged behavior. The victim said she was bent at the waist and attempting to pick out a greeting card when an unknown male approached her from behind and pressed his groin against her buttocks.

The Lake George man reportedly apologized and claimed the contact was accidental. A few minutes later, however, he came up from behind the victim and pressed himself against her again, nearly causing her to fall over.

The man fled the scene prior to law enforcement’s arrival. Deputies recognized him as Scott Habshi, a Level Three sex offender, after watching the store’s security footage.

Habshi has a long history of similar behavior, including a 2014 arrest for forcible touching at a local supermarket, and another arrest for similar behavior a few months later; he was arrested last year for failing to register as a sex offender, according to a WTEN report.

Habshi was arraigned in Warren County court and was remanded to the county jail. He is set to appear in Lake George Town Court at a later date.
