BRUNSWICK – A man allegedly went to a firehouse late Tuesday night and drove off with an emergency vehicle.
An unidentified male suspect stole a fire utility vehicle from the Eagles Mills Fire Department, the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
The sheriff’s office provided an update Wednesday morning, that said the vehicle was subsequently found in Colonie; deputies did not say if anyone has been charged.
The man apparently drove away with the 2019 Chevrolet fire utility vehicle at 10;45 p.m. Tuesday from the firehouse at 627 Brunswick Road, deputies said. Video footage captured an image of the man and his alleged actions. The sheriff’s office did not say how the man was able to access the firehouse and drive the vehicle away.
Before driving off, he placed an orange bike in the fire vehicle, the sheriff’s office said. No information about the make and model of the bike was known.
When the man drove off, he apparently took a right out of the firehouse parking lot and was last seen headed west on Route 2 toward Troy.
If anyone has information about the alleged suspect, call the sheriff’s office at 518-270-5252.
