Ballston Spa produced a stellar season in Suburban Council play, dropping only one game against Bethlehem. The Scotties opened the season with Verdile playing shooting guard and fellow senior Mike Miller handling point guard duties. When the two players flipped positions, things took off for Ballston Spa’s offense.
Verdile, who averaged 21.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game, proved prolific in his efficiency, flare and leadership and earned Suburban Council Player of the Year honors. The top-seeded Scotties dropped a 59-58 decision against Green Tech in a riveting Section II Class AA semifinal contest at Cool Insuring Arena.

Verdile made 7 of 8 shots in the first half, including knocking down all three of his 3-pointers.

That was definitely, by far, the best game I played in high school. It was great that it happened later in my career in a playoff game with a good crowd there.”
Verdile shot 48.8 percent from the field, including converting on 41.2 percent of his 3-point attempts. The senior averaged 28.8 points per game over his final five scholastic contests.
“I am happy that all the work I put in worked out,” Verdile said. “I…
