SCHENECTADY – City police said they arrested a youth Wednesday after an emailed threat was sent.
Police said they were notified by the Schenectady City School District of a threat made against the high school. At about 6:50 a.m., the school district’s Gaggle, a student safety monitoring software, alerted administrators to the email sent about five minutes before, stating that an individual was going to “shoot up the school,” police said.
The district notified police and Schenectady Police community engagement officers assigned to the schools went to the address of the sender, making contact with a young suspect. Once with the youth, officers determined that no further threat existed, and the district was able to operate the school day as normal, police said. The youth was charged with the felony of making a terroristic threat.
Police did not say if the suspect is a student.
