A National Weather Service inspection has now confirmed that a third tornado hit Upstate New York on Monday.
An EF-1 tornado landed at 7:10 p.m. on College Hill Road in Vernon, Oneida County, according to a damage survey the weather service conducted Wednesday.
The tornado went north for 1.31 miles, reaching wind speeds of 90 mph. It downed and uprooted numerous trees and went through a golf course, the weather service said.
It lifted from the ground after reaching Seneca Turnpike. No one was injured.
The tornado was rated EF-1 by the weather service. The scale reaches EF-5, a rating for violent tornadoes that reach a max wind speed greater than 200 mph.
The weather service also noted tornado damage in Taberg, Oneida County. The tornado touched down on Coal Hill Road at 7:17 p.m., traveled 1.5 miles before lifting up at 7:20 p.m.
Numerous trees were uprooted and downed and a roof was damaged. No one was hurt.
Shortly after the tornado landed in Vernon Monday, another would touch ground in Lewis County. That one, rated an EF-3, was among the strongest ever recorded in the state.
Another tornado landed earlier in the evening Monday in Cortland and Tompkins counties. That one, also an EF1, reached a top speed of 90 mph.
