79-year-old man dies after rollover crash in Manlius, police say

Manlius, N.Y. – A 79-year-old man died after a rollover crash in Manlius Wednesday, police said.

Chester Williams, of Chittenango, was driving his 2011 Jeep Wrangler on the 8400 block of Salt Springs Road just after noon when the car left the road and rolled over, according to a news release from Manlius police.

The man was outside the vehicle, unresponsive and bleeding, according to dispatches from the Onondaga County 911 Center.

A member of the National Guard saw the man and stopped to offer aid, police said.

Williams was taken to a local hospital where he later died, police said.

Salt Springs Road was closed for several hours after the crash, police said. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the crash.
