Pulaski, N.Y. — The murder trial of Anthony Waldron – who is accused of killing his stepson Jordan Brooks – resumed Monday morning after the judge rejected a request from his lawyer for a mistrial.
Waldron, who was in court, also was arraigned this morning on new charges stemming from his threat to not appear in court and to cut off his electronic monitor.
Waldron’s defense lawyer Salvatore Lanza in court demanded a mistrial. He said the jury may have seen reporting in a Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard about Waldron saying he wanted to kill himself and taking Tylenol that led to his hospitalization Tuesday night.

The judge denied the request saying the court went through extensive warnings to the jury not to read about the case when it was dismissed last week.
The trial was paused Wednesday morning after Waldron was hospitalized.
Waldron was found unresponsive Tuesday night in his Palermo home after texting his wife he was going to kill himself and taking Tylenol, State Police said in a court document. He was taken to Oswego Hospital.
On Thursday, he was transferred to The Lobdell Center for Mental Health and Wellness at Lakeview in the City of Oswego, according to a court filing.
On Thursday afternoon, Waldron became “belligerent” and started yelling at a trooper on who was trying to serve Waldron with Extreme Risk Protection Order paperwork.
An Extreme Risk Protection Order is filed when it is believed someone might cause harm to themselves or others. The orders can prevent the person from purchasing or having guns. Troopers filed for an order and it was temporarily approved by a judge.
Waldron said he wanted to die Tuesday night and never gave anyone permission to enter his home the night of his overdose, State Trooper Justin Morrison wrote in the court papers.
