Baldwinsville voters approved moving its local elections to November and defeated a proposal to move them to June.
The village had two competing propositions on its ballot. One would move future elections to June, the other to November.
The move to November passed 442 to 328, according to unofficial results.
The proposal to move the vote to June was defeated 450 to 289.
In a separate vote, Fayetteville voters overwhelmingly chose to move their local elections to November.
In that village, 651 voted to move the elections to November, while 394 voted no, according to the Onondaga County Board of Elections.
Lumping the local races with state and national ones means more voters will likely show up. Higher turnout would, statistically, favor Democrats, at least statewide. Across New York, Democrats outnumber Republicans more than to 2 to 1. In Onondaga County, the suburbs have been getting bluer.
Editorโs note: An earlier version of this story incorrectly reported that Baldwinsville also approved moving its elections to June.
