Buffalo Bills playoff legend snubbed by NFL

Imagine putting together a video of the greatest backup quarterback moments in league history and leaving off the QB who authored the greatest comeback in NFL playoff history.

As crazy as it seems, that is exactly what the NFL did on Monday.

In their video of greatest backup QB moments, the NFL video shared highlights of Nick Folesโ€™ Super Bowl win, as well as regular season performances by the likes of Matt Flynn, Tom Tupa, Jason Garrett, Earl Morrall and Brock Osweiler. Absent from the video was Frank Reich.

Reich served as the Buffalo Billsโ€™ backup quarterback from 1985-1994. During his tenure with Buffalo, Reich was called into action several times, but his most famous performance came against the Houston Oilers in a Wild Card matchup on January 3, 1993.

Buffalo trailed Houston 35-3 early in the third quarter before Reich and the Bills went on to score 35 unanswered points. The Oilers would tie the game late in regulation, but a Steve Christie field goal in overtime would give the Bills a 41-38 victory.

Reich would complete 21-of-34 passes for 289 yards in the comeback victory while throwing four touchdowns and just one interception. Despite his impressive stat line, Reichโ€™s performance was not deemed as impressive as the efforts of journeymen like Flynn, Garrett and Osweiler.

The Billsโ€™ come from behind victory led by Reich is the second largest comeback in NFL history (regular and postseason). Last season, the Minnesota Vikings found themselves trailing the Indianapolis Colts 33-0 before mounting a comeback that saw them win 39-36 in overtime.
