Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes expresses regret over how he treated Bills’ Josh Allen post-game

Patrick Mahomes couldn’t be bothered to congratulate Josh Allen after the Buffalo Bills defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 20-17 on Sunday night.

Instead of a congratulatory message to his friend, Mahomes used their embrace to complain about the officiating. In a video of their embrace, Mahomes spent his time ranting about the offensive offsides penalty called on wide receiver Kadarius Toney that wiped a touchdown off the board. Kansas City would go on to turn the ball over on downs later int he drive.

“Wildest f–cking call I’ve ever seen,” Mahomes told Allen in a video shared by WROC-TV’s Thad Brown. “Offensive offsides… f–cking terrible.”

Allen simply gave Mahomes a pat on the chest before moving away.

One day after melting down over the loss, Mahomes expressed regret for how he acted and how he treated Josh Allen. In an interview with Carrington Harrison on The Drive, Mahomes apologized for his actions and for how he acted with Buffalo’s quarterback.

“Obviously, you don’t ever want to react that way,” Mahomes told Harrison. “I care, man. I love it. I love this game. I love my teammates. I want to go out there, put everything on the line to win. But obviously can’t do that. Can’t be that way towards officials or really anybody in life. I’ll probably regret acting like that, but more than anything I regret the way I acted towards Josh (Allen) after the game. Because he had nothing to do with it. I was still hot and emotional, but you can’t do that, man. It’s not a great example for kids watching the game. So I was more upset about that than I was about me on the sidelines.”
