Chris Stapleton will no longer be hitting the stage Thursday night because his concert has been postponed due to “hazardous” air quality levels in Central New York.
The concert was planned to kick off the 2023 St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview season.
The announcement came from a St. Joe’s Amphitheater Instagram post Wednesday evening stating the concert scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday will be held on another date.
“Due to the ongoing air conditions in the greater Syracuse area, Chris Stapleton’s concert scheduled for tomorrow at St. Joseph’s Health Amphitheater at Lakeview will be rescheduled to a later date,” the post read.
The venue said all tickets for the original date will be honored for a new date that will be scheduled in the future. An update is expected to be made by mid-day Friday, according to the post.
More than 17,000 fans were expected to be in attendance to watch the Grammy-winning country star.
Stapleton is scheduled to perform Friday and Saturday at the Xfinity Center in Mansfield, Massachusetts, then has five days off before next performing in Spokane, Washington. The next concert at the Lakeview Amphitheater is Luke Bryan on Thursday, June 15.
