Chronic absenteeism in Syracuse schools still high: Search data for over 600 NY districts

Syracuse, N.Y. — Chronic absenteeism in the Syracuse City School District remains among the highest in New York, according to data from the state Education Department.

The district’s chronic absentee rate for high schoolers was the seventh-highest statewide at 75.5 students for every 100 during the 2021-2022 school year. For elementary and middle schools, the district’s rate of 52.6 was the 22nd highest in New York.
