Syracuse, N.Y. — A fire ripped through a home on Syracuse’s North Side on Monday night.
Syracuse firefighters responded to the call at 7:10 p.m. at 638 E. Division St., according to the Onondaga County 911 Center.
Smoke could be seen for miles pouring from the home.
Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds, who was on the scene, said the fire spread quickly in the attic which was full of boxes, clothes and other items.
At 8:20 p.m., some flames were still coming through the roof as firefighters continued to pour water on the fire. Part of the roof has collapsed.
At 8:30 p.m., dispatchers were told the fire is out but firefighters are still working the scene.
The house is a single-family bungalow built in 1890, according to county real estate records.
