Syracuse, NY — Four people escaped a fire early Saturday in Eastwood without injuries, thanks to working smoke detectors, firefighters said.
Everyone was out of the residence by the time firefighters arrived at the 3 a.m. fire at 209 Mildred Ave. The fire started on the second floor and spread to the attic, according to a release from the Syracuse fire department.
Firefighters were able to get hoses into the building. They cut holes from the second floor into the attic to extinguish the fire there. It took about 30 minutes to put out the fire.
The first floor also sustained smoke and water damage. The Red Cross was providing shelter for the homeโs occupants.
