Fugitive killed by trooper in North Country hid with girlfriend, who thought they went camping

Russell, N.Y. — A 19-year-old woman was in the woods in St. Lawrence County with a fugitive when he and police looking for him exchanged gunfire, according to troopers and a media report.

New York State Police released new details Wednesday about the Aug. 10 shooting that killed Shawn Sheridan, 34, in a wooded area in the town of Russell.
