How Syracuse football transfers fared: Courtney Jackson, Jawhar Jordan have big games

Courtney Jackson had just three receptions for Arkansas State on Saturday, but he made them count as two of his catches went for touchdowns in the Red Wolvesโ€™ 44-37 win over Southern Mississippi.

Jackson caught a 5-yard touchdown pass from Jaylen Raynor with 3:40 left in the first quarter to give the Wolvesโ€™ a 14-7 lead. Then, on the first play following the second half kickoff, Jackson hauled in a 60-yard pass from Rayner to make it a 27-17 game.

Jackson also had one rush for 5 yards.

In 2021, Jackson led the Syracuse Orange in receiving with 37 receptions for 389 yards and three touchdowns. Last season, those totals dipped to 15 catches for 201 yards and one touchdown. He entered the transfer portal and committed to Arkansas State in December.

In four games this season, Jackson has 10 catches for 199 yards and three touchdowns.

Luke Benson, tight end, Georgia Tech: Benson caught one pass for 38 yards in the Yellow Jacketsโ€™ 30-16 win over previously unbeaten Wake Forest.

Jaโ€™Had Carter, safety, Ohio State: Carter played but did not record any stats in the Buckeyesโ€™ dramatic 17-14 win over Notre Dame on Saturday night.

Duce Chestnut, cornerback, LSU: Chestnut had a pair of tackles in LSUโ€™s 34-31 win over Arkansas.

Jatius Geer, edge, South Carolina: Geer was credited with one pass defensed in the Gamecocksโ€™ 37-30 win over Mississippi State.

Jawhar Jordan, running back, Louisville: Jordan had another strong game, rushing 18 times for 134 yards and two touchdowns and catching a 75-yard pass for another score in Louisvilleโ€™s 56-28 rout of ACC rival Boston College. He also returned one kickoff for 40 yards.

Jordan has 478 yards and six touchdowns rushing on just 50 carries this season, and has caught 6 passes for 133 yards and a score.

Lee Kpogba, linebacker, West Virginia: Kpogba had 7 tackles in the Mountaineersโ€™ 20-13 win over Texas Tech.
