How to get to the 2023 NYS Fair: Info on parking, Ubers, trains, buses (and even e-scooters)

Headed to the 2023 New York State Fair? You’re not alone. Hundreds of thousands of people will descend on the state fairgrounds just outside of Syracuse for the fair’s 13-day run (Aug. 23 to Sept. 4).

So what’s the best way to get there? There’s a sea of parking lots with easy access to the fairgrounds, along with buses, trains and biking options. Parking will cost you twice as much this year as in past years, but there are some options cheaper than driving.

Here’s everything you need to know about how to get to the fair.

Drivers can park in the Orange, Brown, Pink and Gray lots, or the lot on Willis Avenue. See the map below for details. The lots have room for 22,000 vehicles.

The Orange lot opens daily at 9 a.m. The Brown, Pink and Gray lots open at 6 a.m. The Willis Avenue lot is open at 10 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and on Labor Day.

Parking in each lot costs $10, and parking attendants won’t take cash. You can pay with a credit card or use an E-Z Pass. Your best bet, though, is to but parking passes in advance on the fair’s website, nysfair.ny.gov.

There will be a free shuttle to the main gate from the Orange lot and the Willis Avenue lot.

The fair’s parking lots can hold up to 23,000 vehicles. There’s no overnight parking.

Accessible parking is available to people with the proper license plates or hanging tags in the Pink Accessible lot across from Gate 3 off State Fair Boulevard and the Gray Accessible lot is on the west end of the fairgrounds, reachable through Gate 6. There are limited parking spaces available for people with disabilities with proper hanging tags in the Orange in Pink lots (see map below).

Visit the fair’s website for more information.

Don’t want to drive? Centro will again offer $1 rides (one-way) to the fair from its downtown hub, Destiny USA and Longbranch Park in Liverpool. Tickets are $0.50 for seniors 65 and older, children ages 6-9 or people with a disability. Children under 6 ride free. Rides start at 8:45…
