The Savannah Bananas are headed to prime time, with the first ever live nationwide broadcast of the viral baseball show premiering on ESPN8: The Ocho on Thursday, August 3 (8/3/2023) at 7 p.m. ET.
The Bananas take on their regular foes, the Party Animals, live on ESPN2, which has been rebranded as ESPN8: The Ocho for three days of โseldom seen sportsโ this weekend. It can be streamed live on fuboTV (free trial), ESPN Plus and other live TV services.
Theย Savannah Bananasย are a viral, Harlem Globetrotter-like baseball show (headed to Syracuse on September 14) known for their bright yellow uniforms and on-field antics, including dance breaks and lots of crowd participation.
ESPN has been covering the rise in popularity of the Savannah Bananas since their original docuseries, Bananaland, which is available to stream on ESPN Plus. Now the network is bringing the Bananas to the national stage as part of the 2023 edition of โThe Ocho.โ For those unfamiliar, โThe Ochoโ is an annual tradition where ESPN covers unusual sports like Slam Ball, Air-guitaring, disc golf, axe-throwing and more. Itโs a reference to a gag in the 2004 comedy โDodgeball: A True Underdog Story,โ staring Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller.
