This is about as familiar territory as it gets for these two teams. The USA and Canada have squared off in the previous six straight World Lacrosse gold medal games, and in nine of the thirteen total previous tournaments dating to 1967. The USA has the all-time record of 10 gold medals in the contest, while Canada has just three. In 2018, the USA won a nail-biter 9-8 to take the title.
Canada beat the Haudenosaunee men’s team 12-7 in the semifinal, while the USA beat Australia 11-2 to advance. That leaves Australia and the Haudenosaunee to square off in the Bronze Medal game at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Charlie Bertrand, a Baldwinsville, N.Y. native, plays attack/midfield for the USA national team.
