Le Moyne men’s basketball concludes road swing with 66-50 loss at NEC-leading Merrimack

North Andover, Mass. – Bryan Etumnu scored a career-high 15 points to lead Merrimack to a 66-50 victory over the Le Moyne men’s basketball team in Northeast Conference action on Saturday afternoon at Hammel Court.

Freshman guard AJ Dancler (Indianapolis, Ind./Southport) was the only Dolphin to score in double figures with a career-high 14 points in 25 minutes off the bench. The 50 points are the fewest by the team this season.

Etumnu added seven rebounds and four blocks to his game-high point total, eight of which he scored in the first half. Adam Clark also tallied 15 points, 11 of which came in the second half, while adding six steals and five assists. Jordan Derkack, the leading scorer in the NEC, scored eight of his 13 points in the first half, while adding four rebounds, three assists and two steals. Devon Savage posted 12 points, nine in the first half, seven rebounds and three steals.

The Dolphins opened the game with the first five points and seven of the opening nine. Graduate student forward Luke Sutherland (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Siena/Bryant) had five points in the span for the Dolphins.

Merrimack answered with a 15-2 run to take a 17-9 lead with 10:44 to go in the first half. Etumnu tallied eight of the points in the span, while three others accounted for seven points.

Le Moyne regained the lead with 12 consecutive points over 4:08 to take the lead for the final time. Senior guard Darrick Jones Jr. (Richmond, Va./Oak Hill Academy/Towson) started the run with a 3-pointer, Dancler made a jumper, graduate student guard Isaiah Salter (Charlotte, N.C./Central Cabarrus/American International/Adelphi) drilled a 3-pointer to tie the score, redshirt freshman forward Nate Fouts (Skaneateles, N.Y./Skaneateles/Kimball Union Academy) converted a lay-up for the lead and then Jones Jr. scored at the basket.
